Blogging is not only one right way to make money. But, some ways are more easier and profitable than others!
Passive income is an income that you do not directly work for or you do the work once and keep getting paid. Creating passive income is putting hard efforts now to reap the benefits later.
The money, which flows in regular time intervals without the need for indulging considerable amount of effort to create it, is known as passive income.
It can be derived from a rental property, limited partnership or any business activities in which materially participation of the earner is not needed.
You need to be passionate about what you do because you will spend a lot of time doing it. Usually, passive income is taxable.
Three Types Passive Activities
Business income – In this an individual does not take part in regular operations of business rather he invests his money into the business during a particular point of time.
Property income – It includes cash flows from property or any piece of real estate, rental income, and profit from ownership of resources.
Royalties – It can be defined as the payment made by one firm to another for utilizing its intellectual property rights.
Active Income VS Passive Income
✅ Active income – Active income refers to the income, which is derived from rendering some services for fixed income such as wages, salary. It also includes the profit earned from operating a business.
In other words, active income means the income received by performing a regular operation. One important fact about active income is that one cannot earn passive income without earning actual income.
Some examples of active income are – salary, wages, commissions, consulting and freelance services.
✅Passive income – Passive income requires little or no effort in order to earn and maintain. It is termed as progressive passive income when an earner puts little efforts to generate income.
Though, I think it’s important to note that passive income still requires work. One cannot earn anything without working.
If you focus on your efforts in the beginning then eventually time may come when you can generate money while you’re asleep.
Some examples of passive income are – interest earned from investment, rental income, affiliate income, display advertising, online sales and info products.
On comparing both the incomes, honestly passive income is better than active income as in passive income one can earn money without even working.
You can go on vacation, spend some family time and come home with bigger bank balance. But, not to forget the foundation of passive income is active income. Therefore, active income is also extremely important.
Along with active and passive income, there is third type of income that is portfolio income. It is one of the three main categories of income. The money received in the form of dividend, interest, investments and capital gains is considered as passive income
As the word, itself suggests totality of income in a single portfolio. In this income, interest, dividend, royalties, capital gains all are included.
In general, you have earned that money via investing. We can also say that portfolio income is paper investment income.
Generally, it gets favourable tax treatment compared to active or passive income.
Examples of portfolio income are – interest earned, dividend earned, capital gains, etc.
